Salem Witch Museum
Salem Witch Museum
Only a block from the Visitor Center, and facing the Salem Common, you'll find an imposing stone Romanesque building housing the famous Salem Witch Museum. The horrifying events of the 1692 witch trials are depicted in the museum's thoroughly researched and powerful presentation. Visitors are offered a complete look at one of the most important, emotional, and tragic events in American history.

The Salem Trolley

A ride on the Salem Trolley will take you around to all the major points of interest. On your way to other museums, you may wish to stop for a closer look at the very old headstones at The Burying Point.

From the cemetery, you can wander into the area designated as the Witch Trials Memorial and reflect on the people from Salem's past remembered here.

The Burying Point is the oldest burying ground in the city of Salem. Here is buried Justice John Hathorne, an ancestor of Nathaniel Hawthorne and one of the judges in the Witchcraft Court.

 
Salem Wax Museum

Salem Wax Museum of Witches and Seafarers

Adjacent to the Burying Point and the Witch Trials Memorial is the Salem Wax Museum of Witches and Seafarers with its amazing London-made wax figures waiting to guide you through Salem's history.

Across the lane from the Salem Wax Museum is the Salem Witch Village where you can explore the facts and superstitions surrounding witchcraft and witches.

 

The New England Pirate Museum

Continue around the corner onto Derby Street to the New England Pirate Museum where you can discover the adventures of many infamous seafaring villains on your way to Salem's waterfront.
