Recycling Calendar

Salem recycles paper, cardboard, glass bottles and jars, metal food cans, plastic bottles and jars, and paper milk & juice cartons and drink boxes curbside. Recycling bins are collected every other week on the same day as your trash collection. Place bins at curb before 7 AM.

All A-Week bins are collected during weeks highlighted in GREEN on this calendar.
All B-Week bins are collected during weeks highlighted in BLUE. Whenever a scheduled collection day falls on a Holiday, that day's collection and all remaining collections for the week will be delayed one day. Friday's collection will be on Saturday.

Citywide curbside leaf collection weeks are shown on this calendar with a leaf icon Yard waste can also be dropped off, free of charge to Salem residents, at the Transfer Station on Swampscott Road, M-F 8am - 3 pm. Citywide curbside Christmas Tree Collection will take place on the week highlighted with a Tree icon

Recycling Bins

Regular size recycling bins are available for $5.00 each at Crosby's Market, 125 Canal St., at Winer Brothers Hardware, 86 Lafayette St., Transfer Station or at the Department. of Public Works.

The City of Salem also sells a 95-gallon toter for your recycling needs. They are $80.00 each (payable by check only). Please call 978-744-3302.

Applicance Stickers

Salem residents may purchase stickers for curbside collection of computer monitors, TVs, light ballasts and freon-based appliances such as air conditioners, dehumidifiers, and refrigerators. Stickers cost $20 per item (checks only) and are available at the DPW garage, 5 Jefferson Ave. Items will be collected on the second and fourth Saturday of each month.
